Happy October!

I'm catching back up on creative projects after being a bit too busy over the summer. Glad to have a chance to bring you my usual art-and-writing delivery, though delayed; hope you enjoy it!

Some relaxing illustrations

Here is a collection of digital illustrations I made over the years. I've been reviewing them while planning my next art series for the fall.

Individual Climate Action Does Work…

How to take action that does more than just make you feel better.

If you can vote, this bird wants you to.

Also, I gave a speech about the importance of voting at No Kings Day!

If you are in California, here some relevant resources about ballot propositions (guide, presentation).

In the Works

I launched a new YouTube channel for video essays. It's about note-taking, the internet, and activism. I'm working on finishing "season 1" of my channel.

I am also having an absolute blast working on the sequel to Fire's Ally (it's book 2 of the Ervuan Firecycle Trilogy, titled Land's Grudge). I am so glad to have time for it again, and it's been a welcome relief from other difficult and stressful tasks.

That's not to say it'll be ready any time soon. I've never written a sequel before and don't know how long it takes me.

Some friends and I filmed a comedy sketch. It's about a "health expo." The editing is in progress.

I will continue to be cryptic about it for now. Here, with no context, is a graphic we used in the filming:

That's all I can think of! Hope you're having a fun, creative time too, and getting ready for a spooky Halloween.

Best wishes,
D. M. Kannapan

P.S. I'm starting to send these round-ups more regularly. You can find all recent newsletters here, so feel free to delete them from your inbox if the file sizes get big.

Hence the dewdrops illustration above: a reminder to me as much as anyone. I'm feeling the usual seasonal call to go out and make some nature art,...

Art & Writing from D. Kannapan May 2026 My new book, Aseb Faces the Sand. (You're receiving this email because you subscribed to my work, via one of several platforms including Medium and Luma. You can unsubscribe at any time.)Happy May! My big update is that I wrote another (tiny) book, called Aseb Faces the Sand. It's a prequel to my other novel, and the story is based on a game we played at the Fire's Ally launch party. Two rival wagon-makers journey into the desert, to prove their mastery...

Art & Writing from D. Kannapan April 2026 Art I made for LA Climate Week (You're receiving this email because you subscribed to my work, via one of several platforms including Medium and Luma. You can unsubscribe at any time.) Happy April! I've had an action-packed month, organizing and attending events for Earth Month and LA Climate week. I could use some chill creative time. I worked on writing my next book as a break from all the running around, and frankly, it was my best decision ever....
